AbstractThe correct design of exterior walls of buildings requires a knowlege of the water vapour permeance of the materials involved. Several methods have been developed by which the permeance of a given material may be measured, each having its own particular advantages and limitations. This paper attempts to discuss the important features of some of the more common methods and describes a measuring technique which provides a flexible and accurate method for determining permeance values under a wide range of conditions.
