AbstractA number of workers have recenty demonstrated the convenience of silicon semiconductor detectors for studying those neutron-induced reactions in silicon in which charged particles are emitted. In all these experiments, a single detector has been irradiated with with neutrons, of energy 14 MeV usually. The pulse height distribution from the detector shows several peaks which are attributed to the Si28(n, α)Mg25 reaction because the energies correspond to the known excited states of Mg25. Peaks due to protons usually do not show up clearly because the sensitive region of the silicon detectors commonly available is considerably less than the range of the most energetic protons emitted.
