AbstractA new type of high-efficient nonlinear optical (NLO) material——cadmium mercury thiocyanate (CMTC) has been investigated on the basis of molecular-engineering method and double-ligand model.This note reports single crystal growth, structure features,transmission and refractive indices of CMTC crystal. The blue violet light output of GaAIAs laser diode frequency doubling by using CMTC crystal was realized at room temperature. High-optical quality of CMTC single crystal has been grown from mixed solvents by using lowering-temperature method for the first time.
