AbstractThe objective of this report is to provide a framework for discussion on the approach that the Transport Canada should take to implement a more scientifically-based approach to the Canadian Ice Regime System. This report begins with a short overview of the work that has been performed to put the Ice Regime System on a scientific basis. The results of discussions with the Stakeholders of the Ice Regime System are then presented. Four possible approaches are proposed for the implementation of the system, and the advantages and disadvantages of each approach are discussed.
