SubjectBrick; Mortar
AbstractThe resistance to rain penetration of a brick and mortar combination has been found to be related to the condition of the surface of a fresh mortar bed at the time the brick in the course above is laid on it. The extent to which the brick below has already drawn water from the mortar, thus stiffening it, is of particular importance. The work now reported was planned to show whether bricks of the same initial rate of absorption produce the same rates of water removal from a given mortar.
