AbstractA series of fire tests was carried out to determine the effect of substituting fine sand for various amounts of aggregate on the fire endurance of lightweight concrete masonry units. Four types of lightweight aggregates were selected to provide test specimens with sand replacement levels ranging from 0 to 60 per cent of the total aggregate volumns. Partially sanded units were produced using both a siliceous and calcareous sand of fine commercial grade.
