AbstractVery little information is available on the properties of peat in its frozen state. This is considerably more information on the compressive strength and physical properties of ice and of frozen soils in general. Russian studies have shown that the stress-deformation state of frozen soil is dependent upon a time factor and that frozen soil may be regarded as a compressible elastic-plastic-viscous body.
