AbstractAn initial attempt to assess the effect of the silicone treatment consisted of a series of absorption tests on two lots each containing 100 extruded clay bricks. The bricks in one lot had been siliconed at the plant; those in the other lot were not siliconed. It was considered that the properties of the untreated bricks were similar to those of the siliconed bricks before treatment, but there was no evidence to substantiate this.
