AbstractThis report forms a two-volume report related to a PERD/NEB project to develop a computer model to investigate the impact of an ice mass on an offshore structure. Volume 1 provides a review and evaluation of existing numerical and experimental work, an outline of numerical formulation intended for the computer model and an inventory of the available software and capabilities available at IMD. TVolume 2 contains a number of numerical simulations of ice masses in clear water and in the presence of a tanker vessel, based on the formulations discussed in volume 1. The report also makes recommendations for further numerical development and experimental studies.
