A new approach to computational seakeeping prediction

AbstractThe Centre for Marine Vessel Design and Research at the Technical University of Nova Scotia has developed a computer software package for seakeeping prediction. The computation is based on the three-dimensional source distribution method for the motion of a floating body with or without forward speed. In this report, two parts of the work are given. The first part is the computation and discussion on the 3-D Green function with forward speed, and the second part is the ship motion, added resistance and seaload simulation based on the 3-D zero-speed Green function but with the forward speed consideration. Computed results of three ships are presented in this report.
