AbstractThe control of heat, air and moisture flow through the building envelope is critical to its performance and durability in our climate. As construction practices have evolved to provide more comfortable indoor environments with lower energy costs, it has proven necessary to enhance our understanding of how heat, air, and moisture flows interact. This has led to major modifications in construction practices to avoid damage and degradation caused by condensation. This paper summarizes the results of three recent laboratory research projects related to the control of air, heat and moisture flow through wall systems.
