AbstractWe have arrived at a key point in the process of finalizing the content of the 2005 versions of the National Building Code, National Fire Code and National Plumbing Code. Last September and October, the technical standing committees of the Canadian Commission on Building and Fire Codes met to review public comments on proposed technical changes to the 1995 versions of these codes. There were over 1400 proposed changes submitted for public review during the four-month consultation last spring. Although many of the over 8000 comments received were supportive, the standing committees focused on comments that were unsupportive and those suggesting alterations to the proposed changes.
