AbstractThis paper presents real-time algorithms used to extract 3-D range information obtained from a standard area scan CCD camera in an optically cluttered environment. The system uses the redundancy of the range information obtained when combining a standard triangulation-based 3-D laser scanner and the NRC's BIRIS system to validate the range measurements and to eliminate the outliers.
