AbstractThe prospect of installing energy efficiency measures in buildings leaves some people afraid that they will ?freeze in the dark?. Surveys of employers show that they are reluctant to make changes that they fear could adversely affect employee performance and satisfaction. Fortunately, present-day technology exists that can satisfy occupants and their employers and reach energy-efficiency targets also. This presentation, based on NRC-IRC field and laboratory research, will show how advanced controls and other technologies can add to occupant comfort and satisfaction, while also saving energy and reducing peak demand.
