AbstractThis report describes the design and implementation of machine vision and virtual reality modules for ?peg-in-a-hole? assembly that involves operations such as picking pins from holes in a block and inserting pins in desired locations in empty holes. The first part of the report describes technical issues that need to be addressed to achieve full automation of ?peg in a hole? assembly including alternative solutions and their advantages and drawbacks. The second part explains LabVIEW® (laboratory virtual instrumentation engineering workbench) and describes how to execute the program. The last section describes the procedure for creating and using a VRML (virtual reality modeling language) in labVIEW.®
