AbstractUnlike industrial buildings and other larger structures, a house does not lend itself to the refinements in design afforded by engineering analysis. For this reason the design for strength and rigidity in house construction in Canada, as well as in other countries with similar climatic loads, has depended largely on local building regulations and past experience in the art of home construction.
