AbstractA Hybrid Fire Testing (HFT) approach was developed, based on a sub-structuring method, for the fire performance assessment of buildings by means of both computer simulation and experimentation. A 6-storey reinforced concrete building was designed, as the specimen, to be tested using the new hybrid fire testing approach. For the purpose of this test, a fire compartment was considered to occur on the first floor, in the center of the building. The column in the fire compartment was tested using the NRC?s column furnace facility and the rest of the building was simulated, simultaneously, using the SAFIR computer software. The test was implemented successfully indicating that such hybrid testing is achievable. This report includes description of the hybrid testing methodology, details of the 6-storey building prototype and the methodology verification. The implementation and the test results will be published in a subsequent report.
