AbstractSubcommittee 5.1 of ASTM Committee E-6 has been engaged for the past several years in developing a standard test for evaluating the condensation performance of windows. This activity has not yet resulted in an accepted standard method, but one method currently is being considered as a possible standard. The article outlines some of the considerations that are important in the development of such a standard test. It also describes work undertaken by the Division of Building Research, National Research Council of Canada, to evaluate the suitability of the test method.
