AbstractAn atomic frequency reference using a single trapped ion has been evaluated to 1.2×10^-17 uncertainty by exploiting the experimentally observed cancellation of micromotion induced Stark and time dilation shifts on the 88^Sr^+ 445-THz S-D transition.
