AbstractAt L'Original near Hawkesbury, Ontario, the Department of Highways of Ontario planned to demolish a disused highway bridge. The method of demolition was to use explosives to shatter the columns of the bridge causing the bridge deck to fall as a unit to the ground. As this bridge was in the country, well away from built-up areas, it was ideally suited for explosive test procedures.
