AbstractA 1-year program involving several laboratories located in different climatic zones has afforded an opportunity to evaluate the response of miniature moisture sensors ( developed at the National Research Council of Canada) to surface moisture on panels exposed to the atmosphere. It has shown that when these moisture sensors are placed on the surface of metal or plastic panels they respond to moisture conditions at the surface or more precisely, at the sensor surface, and that such moisture conditions result from interaction of the total environment with the material as well as with the ambient relative humidity conditions.
