AbstractCertain properties of three different types of bricks have been determined from a large number of samples in preparation for the use of these bricks in a masonry research program. The majority of the properties measured relate to the water-absorption characteristics of the bricks since these are of primary importance in determining the quality of the brick masonry produced. The initial rate of absorption is of particular interest, and the relationship between it and other measured properties for the three types of bricks studies is given special emphasis in this report.
