AbstractA preliminary study has been made to obtain information on the influence of sand grading on mortar properties. In this study, masonry mortars were prepared from sands which differed in grading. The same cementing material, a masonry cement of the portland cement - interground limestone - air-entraining agent type, was used in preparing the mixes. The same proportions by volume of cementing material to sand were used throughout and the same consistency of the mortar was also maintained.
