AbstractThis paper proposes a series of tests that provides a systematic approach to help highway agencies select proper sealants for the crack sealing of asphaltic pavements. The tests include an accelerated aging test, a viscosity test performed at installation temperatures, a dynamic shear rheometer (DSR) test to assess flow in summer temperatures, a bending beam rheometer (BBR) test, a direct tension test (DTT) for cohesive properties at sub-zero temperature, and a blister test for adhesive properties.
