AbstractCanada has embarked in the development of a National Guide to Sustainable Municipal Infra-structure to support the decision-making process for investment and long term planning and to provide users with technical tools and proven methodologies. This article examines the process used to involve public and private municipal infrastructure practitioners in planning the Guide and the results of the consultation. It also presents the development framework for the Guide and outlines several best practice documents being prepared for Canadian municipalities as consultation documents. It describes the decision-making framework and gives examples of prioritization criteria.
