AbstractThe calculated performance is presented for a number of beamsplitters for the 10-200 micrometer spectral region. Designs based on pellicles as well as solid substrates are presented. Average efficiencies that are greater than 0.9 appear possible for this range of wavelengths. The implementation of the above designs will present considerable challenges. Difficulties that will have to be overcome in the manufacturing process are enumerated.
