AbstractA model of the icebreaker ODEN was tested in level ice. Maneuvering experiments with the free running model included turning circles, channel breakout tests, star turns, power/speed tests, and starting tests. The model was controlled by several ship captains. Most tests were duplicated during full scale icebreaking trials. Accompanying video is available at CISTI Library, St. John's, NF.
