AbstractThis paper provides information on the use of washrooms in an enclosed mall-type, suburban shopping plaze. The duration of the use of various plumbing fixtures, arrival rates, over-all washroom duration, sequence of fixture use and the relation between building population and fixture use are described for both sexes. Computer simulations were used to suggest what effects changing the number or ratio of plumbing fixtures might have on the percentage of people waiting to use a fixture and the length of time they must wait.
