AbstractThis paper describes new listening tests to evaluate various airborne sound insulation ratings in terms of the intelligibility of transmitted speech. In these experiments listeners heard test sentences played, at a fixed level, through 20 different simulated walls in the presence of a constant low-level ambient noise.
