AbstractA progress report is presented on a microwave instantaneous frequency indicator based on the principle of instantaneous amplitude comparison of the output of band-pass filters with overlapping pass bands. The use of a permanent magnet focussed traveling-wave tube to restore the losses involved in power division and padding is discussed. The direct-reading and the calibrated accuracy, and the overall sensitivity are studied and experimental results given.
