AbstractThis report describes the issues of water distribution network rehabilitation from the (global) system perspective. Three areas of pipe deterioration are identified as structural integrity, hydraulic capacity and effect on water quality, and a decription of pertinent research is provided. Models and methodologies that are available to facilitate the planning of water distribution networks are described and compared. Future research needs are identified and discussed.
