Subjectmodel tests; downward breaking cone; multi-year ridges
AbstractReport describes model tests of a downward breaking cone with an instrumented base in level ice and multi-year ridges. The techniques for building ridges and the subsequent mechanical properties testing are presented. Mechanical properties of the ridges include flexural rigidity, neutral axis and flexural strength. Ridge force times series plots are presented for various ridge failure scenarios. Ice clearing loads were found to be significant in shallow water. Volume 2 contains: Time Series Plots of Selected Events
