AbstractThis paper describes the experimental model designed and built at Institute for Ocean Technology (IOT) to measure the ice performance of the podded propulsors in the ice tank. The model is capable of measuring forces and moments on the overall system, propeller shaft bearing loads and the loads on the blade during different operating conditions. Some results obtained from the ice tank testing are presented. Additionally, test conditions for ice performance are discussed.
