AbstractThis report is the result of a study on the research needs of Canada's construction industry, based on briefs solicited from various segments of the industry, including professional and technical as well as trade associations, and interviews of some 30 selected individuals. The report consists of three parts: Part 1 includes discussions and recommendations regarding organization and funding; the discussion of the nature of the construction industry and its knowledge needs (Part II); and two lists of research projects - those proposed by the various associations and individuals contacted - and proposals by the Division of Building Research. Part I lists 23 recommendations concerning the organization for research, funding of research, and recommended practices. Reference citations are given in Parts I and II.
