AbstractCarbon dioxide can be converted into formaldehyde by insertion into the Si---H bond of a pentacoordinated organosilane, followed by decomposition of the product under mild conditions. The transient formation of silanone in this decomposition has been demonstrated by trapping with (Me2SiO)3.
