AbstractThe interaction between the supporting structure and the dynamic forces generated by people in motion is presented. The dynamic loading from people activities such as walking, running, jumping, etc. is described by means of dynamic load factors at harmonics of the step frequency. Dynamic load factors are presented for a range of activity rates. The dynamic response of floor structures to such loading is briefly discussed and design guidelines for floors are given.
