SubjectUser modeling
AbstractThis report provides an overview of and the current status of the user modelling and profiling in general, and applicable to collaborative design and manufacturing in particular. Industry goals translated in the form of engineer's (user) interest and expertise play major roles in arriving at a user model. Various approaches to the user modeling have been described, with a special attention to agent-based systems, along with the author's own view on potential directions. A few commercial applications as well as several research prototypes, which embed user models in one form or another, are also described briefly.
