AbstractResearch was conducted using both numerical and experimental studies to evaluate the performance of in-place emergency ventilation strategies to control smoke spread and minimize the impact of smoke in the event of a fire in a road tunnel. Simulations were conducted for seven 30-MW fires ? four in a straight region of the tunnel and three in a curved region. The paper presents the study details and recommendations.
