AbstractThe paper discusses the basic concept of smoke control by means of total pressurization of a building and venting of the fire floor. It also discusses its proper application to building design, particularly when a smoke shaft is chosen as the means of venting the fire floor, for this method has a greater potential for problems than do most other approaches to smoke control.
