AbstractMaintaining and repairing has been a recurring need owing to the natural degradation of materials and structure under the combined effects of loads and environmental factors. In the past, the practice was to replace old buildings that had deteriorated or that were no longer suited to their original purpose. More recently, the widespread deterioration of our infrastructure and the high cost of replacement provide no other option but to repair and rehabilitate. In this paper the author outlines the issues and trends in the sphere of concrete repair and rehabilitation and gives a compelling description of the latest developments which could shape the future along with its potential for further innovation.
