AbstractThe pressure and temperature dependence of the dielectric properties of perovskite lead titanate, zirconate (PZT-4) ceramics has been investigated in the range of 30 to 56 kbar and 20 to 200° C. The transition temperature decreases at an average rate of -4.6°C/kbar and the dielectric constant-temperature peak continually broadens with increasing applied pressure. This peak broadening is similar to that found on decreasing grain size and may be related to an increase in the range of residual microstresses in the ceramic.
