AbstractVarved glacial clays of unusual extent have been revealed by the unwatering of Steep Rock Lake, in western Ontario, an operation carried out in order to gain access to the high-grade iron ore beneath the bed of the lake. Laboratory studies have been carried out primarily for engineering purposes.
