AbstractDuring the winters 1955-56, 1956-57, 1957-58, observation were made on the heat flow from the ground in the Ottawa area. For this study, the observations related to the freezing of the soil water were not described. Since these observations are relevant to the frost action problem, and since field observations and their interpretation are always of value in understanding what is actually occurring under nature conditons, they are presented and discussed in this paper.
