AbstractUsing results from extensive in-service tests and laboratory evaluations, this publication examines the performance of sealants with the intention of answering two principal questions: ?Which application method generates the best sealant performance?? and ?Which sealant performs the best?? The publication explores the relationship between asphalt concrete and sealant and considers the impact that cleaning and preparing cracks has on the asphalt concrete-sealant bond. The degree to which the method of application affects sealant performance is also evaluated. The closing chapter looks at the future of crack sealing and suggests how to modify existing techniques to improve performance.
