AbstractThermal black is one of the purest and cleanest carbon blacks available at the industrial scale. Compared to oil furnace black, it has larger particle size, lower surface area and lower level of particle agglomeration. This work demonstrates that compounds based on polypropylene, polyamide and polyphenylene sulfide containing thermal black loadings from 1 up to 40 wt.% exhibit good mechanical and thermal properties, high electrical resistivity, and high potential for cost saving.
