AbstractThis report describes a further step toward an empirically based set of TSLR recommendations for the workplace. An experiment was conducted to assess the effects of different luminous surroundings on suprathreshold visual performance, subjective assessment of task quality, and pupil size. The effects of two widely separated surround reflectances and several surround sizes were studied under several illuminance levels for two target contracts. These results will hopefully lead to a sounder basis for recommendations on TSLR values for lighting applications.
