AbstractMost building energy simulation programs do not take into account the effect of skylights on energy performance. This paper presents a numerical study on natural laminar convection within vertically eccentric domed cavities heated from the exterior surface. A commercial computational fluid dynamics package employing the control volume approach was used to solve the laminar convective heat transfer within the cavity. This research will lead to the simulation of the energy effects of skylights.
