AbstractThis note had its origins in the Canadian Building Congress, October 1979, the Ontario Renews meeting, June 1980, and the All Sector National Housing Conference, March 1981. At all three, terminology problems in the field of building conservation were clearly evident. The note attempts to define terms such as conservation, renovation and restoration as they are applied to buildings.
