AbstractThis paper presents a mathematical analysis of the stability of a model representing a wheel or track of a moving vehicle. The proposed method of determining a trafficability curve is based on accepted theories of Soil Mechanics and represents a continuation of the work described in Technical Memorandum No.6. A cohesionless medium and the stability of a single wheel or a single track shoe with or without grouser is alone considered. The proposed method, however, is general in scope, and may be easily extended over cohesive soils and several wheels and shoes.
