AbstractIn this paper we present the results of a Fourier self-deconvolution and least-squares analysis of the MIR spectral data for KZn1−xCoxF3. An interpretation is given in terms of low-lying electronic transitions within the 4T1g(4F) ground manifold of Co2+ ions and their vibronics. We also present some new absorption data for this material for frequencies in the FIR where the electronic transitions occur between ground-state levels (degenerate Γ+6 levels in single ions) split by the magnetic exchange interaction between Co2+ ions in clusters.
